Harbor Island Drive
Harbor Island Drive has the perfect paved path for a walk or run at any time of day. The San Diego city skyline views are outstanding and the sun kisses the pathway from sunrise til sunset. The path runs parallel to the only road on this island/peninsula, facing Coronado Island and the elegant blue span of the Coronado Bridge. To the east lies the entire San Diego city skyline. Westward you see the Point Loma highlands leading up to Cabrillo National Monument. Lots of shorebirds are another nice feature of this walk, and you can get close-up views of every sailboat and naval vessel going by in the large expanse of San Diego Bay. The pathway is barrier-free along its 1.3 length, so it's suitable for wheelchairs, bikes, strollers and skates. The area is less crowded than most walking paths along water. To Get There From Rosecranz Street turn onto North Harbor Drive (or take Nimitz Blvd. into North Harbor Drive). Follow this for 1 1/2 miles and turn right onto Harbor Island Drive. Go straight for .286 miles, then turn right and follow road to the end. Park at the far west (right) end of Harbor Island Drive and we will walk east.
